• Neler yapıyorsunuz şu sıralar?

What have you been doing recently?

Bu ayın sonunda çıkacak olan EP’nin kayıtlarını tamamladık. Mix, master işleriyle meşgulüz. Aynı zamanda t-shirt ve cd basımı dağıtımlarıyla uğraşıyoruz.

We have just finished the recordings of our new ep which will be released end of this month. we are working on mixing and mastering of it. Also we are busy with merch stuff, shirts, CDs.

• Grubun ismini nasıl seçtiniz? Sizin için anlamı nedir?

How did you pick the bands name? What does it mean to you?

Film izlerken bir evlilik sahnesinde pederin YOU MAY KISS THE BRIDE demesiyle aydınlandık 🙂 Güzel ve bilinen bir deyim olduğu için seçtik.
Çok da bir anlamı yok açıkcası:)

We were watching a movie, saw a priest, telling the groom “Now, you may kiss the bride.”, well we thought it’s catchy! thats about it.

• Grubun başlangıcına gidecek olursak, neler yaşandı? Grubun kuruluşundan bahseder misiniz?

How did the band born? Can you tell us about that?

Korhan Batu Adnan (Ex gitarist) ve Deniz‘in (Ex Vox) Avenged Sevenfold hayranlığıyla başladı aslında. İlk önce eğlenmek mutlu olmak amaçlı Sevenfold tribute bir grup kuralım dedik ve kurduk da.
Sonra neden kendi tarzımızda devam etmiyoruz diye düşündük ve öyle devam etmeye karar verdik. Bu tarz müziği Türkiye’de hayata geçirmenin zorlukları büyüktü bizim için.
Bu tarz müziğe grup üyesi bulmak da çok zordu. Ülkemizde çok bilinen ve tutulan bir tarz değildi açıkcası.

It’s actually started with Korhan, Batu, Adnan (Ex-guitarist) and deniz’s (Ex-vocal) Avenged Sevenfold love.
At first, we formed the band to be a tribute band of Avenged Sevenfold, later we thought why don’t we make our own music in our genre, thats about it.
Making this genre is really hard for us in Turkey, it’s hard to find musicians that play this genre, and it’s not really well-known.

• Belki bu soruyu cevaplamak istemeyebilirsiniz; ama sizi takip edenlerin merak ettiği bir soru olduğuna eminim. 🙂 Deniz Aydan ile neden yollarınız ayrıldı?

 You may not want to answer this one but I am sure your fans wondering about it. Why did you part ways with Deniz Aydan?

Hedeflerimiz büyüktü ve bunun için herkesin üstüne düşenden fazlasını yapması gerekiyordu. Deniz’le grup işleri arasında bazı anlaşmazlıklar ve fikir ayrılıkları zaten hep vardı.
En sonunda herkesin aynı şeyi hedefleyip istediği ve bunun için kimin ne kadar çaba gösterdiğini gözden geçirdik. Ve o zamanlar bizim için çok zor olan bu kararı aldık.
Haliyle grup yeniden şekillenecekti. Yeni vokal yeni sound. Dediğimiz gibi bu tarz müziğe vokal, özellikle kız vokal bulmak bir hayaldi.

Our plan was big, and we need to try our best to make it work. We had some issues with Deniz about bands work.
At last we thought its best for the band to know who is ready to give everything for it. So, it was a hard decision by that time.
And of course the band would slightly change. new vocal new sound. like we said before, its hard to find people, especially vocals for this genre in this country.

• Grupta birçok eleman değişikliği oldu, son durum nedir?

There has been a lot line-up changes in the band? What’s the current situtation?

Evet oldu.Bu hedeflere ulaşmak için grup elemanının enstrümanını iyi kullanmasının yanında grupta müzik harici işlerde de aktif olması ve çaba sarfetmesini bekliyorduk.
Bu konuda bazı yanlış kararlar aldık ve yanlış kişilerle çalıştık. Ama bu bizim için iyi oldu. Üye alırken ki çıtamız daha yüksek artık.

Yes, to achieve what we are after, it is important for all the band members to know how to use their instrument at its best and its more important to be responsible on other band works too; you need to be active, you need to sacrifice everything if needed.
We made some wrong decisions so we worked with wrong people for some time. But hey, we learned how to pick people!

• Vokal değişikliğinin ardından tarzda da hafif bir değişme var sanki? Ne dersiniz?

After the changing of the vocal, don’t you think there’s been a slight change in the bands genre?

Evet doğrudur. Eskiden şarkılarımızda clean vokal daha öndeyken şimdi bunu daha aza düşürdük ve daha sert bir müzik yapıyoruz artık. Bu da Deniz’le aramızda sürekli olan tartışmalardan biriydi.
Gelen tepkilerin daha olumlu olduğunu görünce doğru bir karar olduğunu fark ettik. Şu an tamamen istediğimiz müziği yapabilmenin mutluluğu içindeyiz 🙂

Yeah thats true. Before, we had more clean vocal lines in our songs, now it’s less. and our music got louder. this was also a struggle between us and deniz. and as we see our fans reactions on new stuff, we thought we made a good decision.
now we are so happy that we can do the music we want. 🙂

• Geçtiğimiz yıl ke$ha coveri ile iyi bir çıkış yakaladınız. Tepkiler nasıldı?

Last year you had a good ascent with the Ke$ha cover, how were the reactions?

🙂 Kesha bizim için dönüm noktasıydı. Zaten popüler bir şarkıyı farklı bi şekilde seslendirmek her zaman her grup için bir artıdır. Bizim tarzımız içinde de (Punk Goes Pop) kültürü tutuluyordu.
Ve bizde bu şekilde reklamımızı yapabiliceğimizi düşündük. Ve şu an 2-3 farklı youtube kanalından izlenmeleri toplarsak eğer 40.000 civarı kişiye ulaşmış bir şarkı.

Ke$ha was a keypoint for us. Covering an already-popular song is always good for a band, we already have a “Punk goes Pop” culture if you know it.
And we thought we could use this as a promotion. and right now our ke$ha cover has been watched around forty-thousand times on YouTube. 🙂

• Yeni coverlar dinleyebilecek miyiz?

Are we going to listen any other covers?

Halihazırda kayıtlı birkaç pop cover şarkımız var. Call Me Maybe şarkısını coverlamıştık. Fakat çıkartmak için doğru zamanı beklemek gerekiyordu bizim için. Bir Pop cover şarkıyı eğer ilk yayınlayan grupsan herkes seni dinler ve reklamın büyük olur.
Call Me Maybe biz çıkarana kadar 2 grup tarafından yayınlanınca vazgeçtik. Şimdi EP’den bir ay sonra Taylor Swift – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together adlı şarkıya bir cover düşünüyoruz.

We already have a couple of recorded pop cover songs. we covered Call me Maybe from Carly rae jepsen. And waited for the right time to release. if you release a pop cover of a popular song first, people listen to it, its a great promotion.
Yet before we released the cover, two other bands already released it so we decided not to release it by that time.
Now after releasing the EP, we are most probably gonna cover the Taylor Swift’s We are never ever getting back together.

• Bu zamana kadar yayınladığınız EP ve single ların ardından 31 Ocakta “THE WRETCHED” EP sini yayınlayacaksınız. Kayıt aşaması nasıl geçti, EP hakkında kısa bilgi verir misiniz?

After the E.P and Single releases until now, you will release the new EP “The Wretched” 31th January. How was the recording stage, can you give us an information about it?

Kayıt aşamaları çok eğlenceli ve yorucu geçti. Kayıtlar için Korhan’ların yazlığını tercih ettik. Allahın unuttuğu bir yerdi 🙂 Ayvalık yolunda ızsız bir koyda müstakil bir evdi.
Etrafta birçok ev vardı; fakat 1 ay boyunca gördüğümüz insan sayısı 3’ü geçmezdi ve bunlar da mezarı arayan yaşlılardı 🙂 Güzel yanı ses sorunu olmayan ve herşeyin üstünde durarak bir kayıt alabilmekti.
EP hakkında verebileceğimiz bilgiler; daha sert riffler ve vokaller olduğudur. Eski tarzımızla pek alakası olduğu söylenemez. En son çıkarttığımız single ın üstüne kata kata güzel bir albüm yaptığımızı düşünüyoruz.

Recording sessions was a lot fun and also was really exhausting sometimes. We used the Korhan’s summerhouse while we are recording, an old, deserted house just near Ayvalık.
There were lots of summerhouses nearby, yet we saw around 3 different people around the whole month. its advantage was, we were free to record all day long without disturbing anyone with the sound.
About the EP. Guitar riffs are more complex and though, vocals are stronger. its not even close to our old music style. we have made a lot of progress after the last single.

• Geçtiğimiz ay dünyaca ünlü Memphis May Fire ile Ankara’da sahne aldınız. Nasıldı konser?

Last month you had a show with the famous Memphis May Fire in Ankara. How was the concert?
Memphis May Fire ile aynı kuliste olmak bile bizim için 1 sene önce büyük bir hayaldi. Tarzımızın ” ABİLERİ ” Ankara Retro Stüdyoları sayesinde ülkemize konsere geliyo ve aynı stüdyo bize onlarla aynı sahneye çıkma şansı sunuyordu. Bunun için onlara teşekkürü borç biliriz. Konser efsaneydi diyebiliriz. Memphis May Fire’ ın üyeleri ve menajeri önümüzdeyken çaldık.
Aslında birazda stresliydi. Çünkü onların tur menajerleriyle booking için görüşmelerimiz devam ediyordu. Aslında görüştüğümüz kişinin o olduğunu konser gününe kadar bilmiyorduk. Büyük bi şoktu 🙂 Kendi sahnemiz gayet güzeldi mutluyduk ve çok eğlendik. Güzel bir deneyim ve reklam oldu bizim için.

It was a dream for us being on the same stage with MMF 1 years from now. They are the big brothers of our genre and they are coming to our country with Retro Studios sponsorship and the same studio offers us the same stage with them. we owe a big thanks to them.
Show was legendary! We played when MMF and their manager was in the crowd. It was kind of stresful too, cause we were still negotiating with their tour manager about booking. (Yet we did not know it was him that we were talking 🙂 )
It was a big shock. Our set was good and we had lots of fun. It was a great experience and promotion for us.

 

• Belirlenmiş konser var mı?

Any upcoming concerts being set?

Şu an kesinleşen yok. Ama albüm çıktıktan 2 hafta sonra Türkiye’deki konserlerimize başlayacağız.

Not certain yet. But after the 2nd week of the EP release, we’ll be touring Turkey.

• Yurtdışı durumları nasıl, amerikalı bir şirket ile menejerlik anlaşması yapmıştınız.

What is the overseas situtation? You had a management deal with US management company Monolith Management.

Menajerlik anlaşması bizim için 2. dönüm noktası oldu. Bilmediğimiz birçok şey varmış. Yapılması gereken daha çok şey varmış bunu bir sıralamaya koyduk. Sırayla hepsini yapıyoruz. Yurtdışıyla ilgili verebileceğimiz en önemli bilgi sanırım Amerika’dan bir plak şirketiyle görüşüyo olmamızdır 🙂

Signing with an overseas management was another keypoint for us. We realized we didn’t know lots of critical points about making music, and there is a lot to do. We aligned them all, and achieving progressively.
the most important new about overseas could be that we are negotiating with an US record company these days. 🙂

• Yurtdışı konserleri olacak mı?

Any upcoming concerts being set overseas?

Amerika’dan görüşülen birkaç şirket var. Eğer bu şirketlerle birlikte olabilirsek yurtdışı turlarına başlayacağız.

We are negotiating with a couple of record companies in the US. If we sign with one of them, we’ll be touring overseas soon!

• Albüm hazırlığınız ya da görüşmeleriniz var mı?

Is there any preparation for a full-lenght album? 

6 şarkıdan oluşan EP albümümüz bu ay sonu çıkacak. Tutulursa ve devamı istenirse 2013 ilkbaharında bir Full albüm düşünüyoruz tabii ki.

Our 6-piece EP “The Wretched” will be released end of this month. If people like it, we may think of a full-lenght album on 2013 Spring.
